Home Service Contractor SEO: Get More Home Service Clients

Think about the homeowner who books you for a drain clog. Next year she might need a water heater, and in spring an AC tune-up. A company that covers several trades can win every one of those calls, but only if Google knows you do each one.

Home service contractor SEO shows Google every service you offer in every town you drive to, without one trade drowning out the rest.

Why home service contractor SEO is different

You're a service-area business. You work at the customer's home, not in a storefront. Google lets you hide your address and list the areas you serve. Its profile guidelines say that area has to match where you really work.

One profile has to carry several trades. You get one primary category, and it does the most work. Pick the trade that brings your most profitable calls, then add secondary categories like "Plumber" or "Electrician" only for trades you actually offer.

Demand moves between trades all year, and it doesn't wait for you. Cooling calls peak in summer, frozen pipes and heating failures hit in winter, and gutters and furnace checks fill the fall. Your posts and pages should shift with the season so you show up for whatever is busy right now.

Trust depends on the person at the door. Homeowners let your technician into the house. Photos of your real techs help a stranger decide to book. So do reviews that mention them by name, and a truck with your number on the side.

What we do for home service companies

Home service contractor local SEO strategies start with the profile, then move to pages and reviews. Every plan is month-to-month, and you can cancel with 14 days' notice. See every price on our pricing page.

Audit: $397 one-time

  • A crawl that checks whether each trade has its own page or shares one crowded Services page
  • A profile review covering primary and secondary categories, service areas, address settings and duplicate listings
  • A side-by-side check against the 3 competitors outranking you for your top trade, plus a ranked fix list and a 30-minute call

Local Starter: $797/month

  • Two new service or location pages a month, rotated across trades so none falls behind, starting with the jobs that pay best
  • Weekly profile posts, photos and review replies, focused on whichever trade is in season
  • Listing cleanup so every directory shows the same name, phone and trades, plus a review request your tech can send from the driveway

Growth: $1,497/month

  • Four new pages a month instead of two, enough to build service-plus-town pages across a wide area
  • Link building from local partners, suppliers, sponsorships and press, never bought links
  • Call tracking to show which trades and towns bring calls, plus monthly technical fixes and a strategy call before each season

Home service contractor website design that converts

A multi-trade site starts failing the moment every service lives on one page. Picture a homeowner who searches "garage door repair" and lands on a page about air conditioning. She leaves in seconds.

The Ready-to-Launch site at $697 fits a company with one or two core services. You get core pages and a tap-to-call button on every phone screen. You also get one booking or quote form and on-page SEO, including business schema that lists your service area.

The Business site at $1,497 fits most multi-trade companies. It adds a separate page for each service and a team section with your techs. You also get a reviews section, a blog and service copy we write or edit. Your "Book now" button can link to the scheduling tool you already use, so a homeowner can book at night without calling.

On both, we sort the menu by trade, show emergency hours if you offer them, and list the real towns you serve. Give maintenance plans their own page if you sell them. A home service contractor local SEO marketing budget goes furthest when the site is ready to turn visits into calls. More on our website design page.

Proof: a gym with too much riding on one profile

Our proof comes from Kesari Health Club, a 24/7 gym in Kopargaon, India. It isn't a home service company, and it isn't a US business. We rebuilt its website and optimized its Google Business Profile.

The gym now holds the number one local pack spot for "24 hour gym in kopargaon". Google AI Overviews also cite the site for questions about its equipment and timings.

For you, the gym's services become your trades, and its opening hours become your service hours and emergency availability. The order of work stays the same, though a bigger city may take longer. Read the full local gym case study.

Google Business Profile engagement for Kesari Health Club from May to October 2026, showing 361 interactions including 34 calls and 318 direction requests

Frequently asked questions

Is home service contractor SEO different from regular SEO?

Yes, in focus. Regular SEO tries to rank pages anywhere. Your calls come from the map pack and the towns you drive to, and that shapes what you build first.

Most callers are nearby and need help soon, so your profile, your reviews and your service-plus-town pages matter more than blog traffic from other states. Your website still matters a lot, because Google reads it to decide which trades and towns you really cover.

Which contractor local SEO strategies matter most for a multi-trade company?

Start with four. Choose the right primary category and add secondaries only for real trades. Build a separate page for each service. Ask for a review after every job, and reply to each one.

Keep your name, phone and trades identical on every directory, because mismatches make Google less sure who you are. After that, add pages for the towns you want more work in. Our contractor SEO checklist lists every step in order.

How much does contractor local SEO marketing cost?

With us, the audit is $397 once, Local Starter is $797 a month, and Growth is $1,497 a month. A multi-trade company in one main area often starts on Local Starter. A wide area or a competitive city may call for Growth, because four pages a month reach more trades and towns faster.

Profile and map pack movement often shows in 6 to 12 weeks. New pages usually take 3 to 6 months to rank in a big metro.

When you compare quotes, ask for the deliverables in writing. A fair quote names the number of pages, the weekly profile work and what the report tracks. Be careful with any quote that only says "custom strategy".

Can I create a Google Business Profile for each town I serve?

No. Google allows a profile for each real location where you have staff during business hours. A virtual office or mailbox address doesn't count, and fake listings can get suspended.

With one shop, keep one profile and list your service areas. Then build a page on your website for each town you want calls from. If you open a second shop with staff, it can get its own profile.

Should I build a separate page for every town I serve?

Only for towns you want more work in, and only when each page says something real. Mention the neighborhoods you cover and local details like older homes or hard water. If you can't think of anything real to say about a town, it doesn't need a page yet.

Copying one page and swapping the town name creates a doorway page, which Google's spam policies warn against. A few strong town pages beat a long list of thin ones.
